Tough Day...

Some days being a parent is SO tough... what starts out as a perfectly simple planned and organized day turns out to be a LONG day of chaos! Started out this morning with 4 appointments at the dentist. One stop and all the kids can get a cleaning at the same time at the Children's Dental Clinic... Great! Well, yesterday Julia says I am bleeding I thinking I must of scratched a boo boo or something. My bottom is sore... Not a problem a little bite that was bleeding. Band aid and antibiotic ointment. Done! Now back to the dentist. We got their all was good 4 kids arrive - pretty painless... Isaac gets called back first.... cries his heart out! Then they nurse comes and gets Julia and Laura they hold hands and walk of happy as can be... They did so good. I am so proud of them. Laura got her teeth cleaned, x-rayed, varnished, fluoride treatment and 4 sealants put on with no fussing. Julia got the same and they came out happy as can be with their little bag of goodies. Isaac's nurse came out several times and got me and complained about Isaac's behavior and noncooperation. Not, totally a surprise since he has sensory hypersensitivity and doesn't like people messing with his head, hair teeth, eyes or face... So, I have not seen a dentist yet that has been able to clean or x-ray or do anything without knocking him out first. So, that was fine. Kaley needed a checkup and new x-rays since her teeth have been so sensitive to hot and cold since she busted her lip open. I of course had to hold her down along with a team of nurses to check her teeth out and get an x-ray. And, even though you know the child needs to be seen it just breaks my heart to let them do procedures to them meanwhile they are looking me in the eye with the look of "make them stop mommy" as they are crying and screaming and kicking with all their might... so we got those back and everything looks good with her thankfully for the mean time although they really want us to wean the blanket and thumb sucking! Don't think I can handle that before summer!!

So, while I was sitting in the dentist I made Julia an appointment for the sore on her bottom because today one whole butt cheek was read and a spot the size of a quarter around the hole/bite was dark red/purple and puffed up and oozing and bleeding. So, I was planning on dropping the kids off at school and Kaley and Julia and I could go the doctors but, it turned out that Julia needed a filling on her tooth so we were delayed at the dentist with three children running around the lobby! So, fun!! We stopped at the drive through and had to go straight to the doctors for what I thought was going to be a quick visit and then they looked at Julia bottom and decided that with Mersa going around town that she should have a culture... Not a big deal Just swab some of the puss that is already coming out right? Well, it ended worse than that. They decided that they would just give her a shot to numb it and like 6 shots later it is not numb and she is kicking and fighting and screaming and yelling "stop it don't give me any more shots in my butt". 4 nurses are holding her down... Isaac and Laura had to leave the room because they couldn't stand to see their sister hurt so much and then Kaley was screaming because Julia was crying!! I wanted to cry because she was so upset and then they decide to drain the sore!!! and clean it out!!! OMG!! Blood everywhere!! It was bad!!... When they finished I got the kids a lolly pop from the nurse to keep them happy so I could hold Julia for awhile because she was shaking and screaming because her bottom hurt so much... We decided to go out to the car and get Kaley's stroller and make Julia a puffy (nice soft winter jacket) ride so we could go and drop off the swab to be cultured meanwhile it is 2:00 so Kaley and Laura are walking the halls of the hospital to the laboratory screaming and all the people were seeing this mob of children crying walking through the hall and must of been thinking!! "does this lady believe in birth control"!! It was just one of those days!! We finally got out of the hospital at 3:00 and went to the pharmacy to get Julia's prescriptions filled because she also had an urinary tract infection too and of course there was a one hour wait there too!!! The good news is that Kaley fell asleep in the car. The drug store has a drive thru and we had a DVD player in the car so we dropped off the prescription and put on a movie, ate some taco bell (cheese burritos and cinnamon twist) while we waited and then picked up our prescription and got home at 5:00... 4 kids all day!! since 8:00am this morning at the doctors, hospital and dentist.... What a day!! I am so worn out... It is just so mentally draining when you have to hold your children down and let doctors do stuff to them. They kids are mad at me for letting the doctors hurt them and I feel horrible because I let the doctors do it... The kids never made it to school today to say the least.... and mentally I am ready to sit and vegge and snuggle with my sweeties!! When the kids hurt my heart breaks and it will just never get any easier I suppose. I feel worse when I know that it is my fault that
they are going through this even if it is for their own good....Tough Love is being a mom!!
