Frosty the Snowman

The children got out of school on Friday for a snow day and then Monday was Martin Luther King Day so they had a nice long weekend. The kids were dressed, lunch boxes in hand and were getting ready to walk out the door when the phone rang and canceled school due to Icy roads. The kids were very excited and had lots of energy but, it was an ugly day outside so I knew we needed to find something to do inside quickly and quietly. So, I announced that since we were having a snow day and all the snow had melted we needed to create our own snow and have a party. The kids love to celebrate!! So, we cut out snowflakes and taped them up in the windows and made a frosty the snowman cake. They helped make, frost and decorate the cake and then we sung "Frosty the Snowman" and ate the cake. The kids said mom, "this was the best snowday ever". It was a lot of fun and kept them busy just about all day long. It was good they did cancel school. The roads were so icy that there were about 25 accidents in Bryson City. That is a lot of accidents for a town this size. The hospital, highway patrol and Farm Bureau were slammed.
